Pulse works best with an Apple Watch. Heart rate variability and resting heart rate are collected by your Watch overnight and are essential for an accurate readiness score. Without a Watch, Pulse can still track your energy check-ins, but your score will be limited.
Each morning, Pulse combines your overnight health data from Apple Health with your self-reported energy level to calculate a score from 0 to 100. For the first few days, this uses a general formula. Over time, an on-device machine learning model learns your personal patterns and gradually takes over, so by day 30 your score is fully personalized to you.
Everything stays on your device. Pulse reads from Apple Health but never sends your data to any server. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no third-party analytics. Deleting the app removes all stored data.
You set your preferred morning and evening times in Settings. A 3-hour window opens before each scheduled time for you to complete your check-in. Notifications and the home screen widget will prompt you when a window is open.
Yes. Go to Settings in the app and adjust your morning and evening reminder times. You can also turn reminders off entirely.
